This vacancy is for a GS-0810-12, Civil Engineer located in the Department of Homeland Security, U.S. Coast Guard, SILC-CEU MIAMI-PL DESIGN SECTION A in MIAMI, Florida.

  • You will serve as a Civil Engineer and be responsible for the design and construction of new and/or extension, conversion, modernization, maintenance and repair of existing Coast Guard modern or historical shore facilities and marine site structures. You will provide technical civil engineering support for assigned geographical areas. Being a Coast Guard civilian makes you a valuable member of the Coast Guard team. Typical work assignments include: Analyzing designs, planning, and executing large and/or complex designs for a diverse range of engineering projects. Evaluating design objectives, performing complex technical calculations, and identifying the most economical and efficient procedures for project design and performance considering all influences. Working complexities require adaptation and modification of precedents and a versatile and creative approach to solve problems where serious conflicts exist between management requirements and engineering principles. Performing field investigations to evaluate civil engineering issues and concerns with existing facilities to develop recommendations. Serving as Contracting Officer's Representative (COR) for assigned projects.
