- As a Civil Engineer, you will serve as a Project Manager/Civil Engineer on a multidisciplinary architectural and engineering team supporting the design, construction, repair, renovation, and maintenance of Coast Guard facilities. Being a Coast Guard civilian makes you a valuable member of the Coast Guard team. Typical work assignments include: Developing project scopes, conducting site investigations, performing cost estimates, and planning schedules through design completion. Designing and analyzing complex civil engineering systems for new construction and renovation projects and preparing drawings, specifications, calculations, and cost estimates. Providing technical oversight of A/E contractors, reviewing design submissions, monitoring project progress, and serving as COR for assigned projects. Managing project execution, including construction oversight, technical submittal review, inspections, change orders, and quality assurance. Performing Facility Asset Management (FAM)condition assessments, identifying deficiencies, recommending remedial actions, and responding to facility casualties. Applying building codes, life-safety standards, ADA accessibility requirements, environmental regulations, and other engineering requirements to project planning and design. Coordinating with diverse stakeholders and negotiating solutions to resolve complex engineering and management conflicts.
